Advantages Of
Centrifugal Air Compressor

A centrifugal compressor is a compressor in which the impeller does work on the gas to increase the pressure and speed of the gas and complete the gas transportation. The gas flows through the impeller in the radial direction. The centrifugal air compressor has a large air volume, simple and compact structure, lightweight. The operation is balanced, the operation rate is high, the friction parts are few, the maintenance cost and the personnel are few.

Moreover, centrifugal compressor are widely used. Some basic chemical materials, such as propylene and ethylene, can be processed into important chemical products such as plastics and rubber. In the production of this basic raw material, the centrifugal compressor is one of the key pieces of equipment.

Brief Introduction of Centrifuge Compressor

The impeller works on the gas to increase the pressure and speed of the gas and complete the gas transportation. The gas flows through the compressor of the impeller in the radial direction.

Also known as turbo compressor: it is mainly used to compress the gas, mainly composed of two parts: the rotor and the stator: the rotor includes an impeller and a shaft.

The impeller has blades, a balance disc, and a part of the shaft seal; the main body of the stator is a cylinder and an expansion Compressor, curve, reflux, vent pipe, exhaust pipe, and other devices.

Working Principle

centrifugal compressor structure

The main components of a centrifugal compressor for compressing gas are a high-speed rotating impeller and a diffuser with a gradually increasing flow area.

In short, the working principle of a centrifugal compressor is to perform work on the gas through the impeller, and in the flow passage of the impeller and the diffuser, the mechanical energy is converted into the pressure energy of the gas by the centrifugal pressure increase and the deceleration effect. of.

More generally speaking, when the gas flows through the impeller of a centrifugal compressor, the high-speed impeller makes the gas under the action of centrifugal force, on the one hand, the pressure increases, that is, the centrifugal compressor.

The impeller first converts the mechanical energy of the prime mover into static pressure energy and kinetic energy of the gas.

After that, when the gas flows through the diffuser channel, the cross-section of the flow channel gradually increases, the flow rate of the gas molecules in the front decreases, and the gas molecules in the back continue to flow forward, so that most of the kinetic energy of the gas is transformed into static pressure energy. That is to further increase the pressure.

Precautions for Centrifugal Air Compressor

Before starting, first, make the following preparations:

Check whether the unit has the starting conditions (including checking the reason for the last shutdown and the overhaul; checking whether there are obstacles around the unit; whether the starting tools, hearing needles, recording tables, etc. are ready)

Check whether the motor, electrical, instrument, and light signals are normal, especially whether the accident interlock system can operate correctly (including water cut, low oil pressure, axial displacement, etc.);

Whether the oil lubrication system is normal (the oil level of the oil tank, whether there is water in the bottom of the oil tank, the auxiliary oil pump and the oil circuit are normal);

Cooling system and cooling water conditions (water pressure, water temperature, whether the valve is flexible, etc.)

Whether the Р valve is flexible and easy to use, whether it can be closed and opened as required;

Before starting, perform cranking to check whether the rotating parts are flexible and whether the axis position indicator changes.

Troubleshooting

The operating temperature of centrifugal compressor bearings is generally 45~50℃, and the maximum temperature should not exceed 65℃. Generally, 65℃ is the alarm temperature, and 75℃ is the interlocking shutdown temperature. The causes of excessive bearing temperature are:

  • The gap between the bearing bush and the journal is too small, scraping the bush and adjusting the gap;
  • The diameter of the throttle ring at the inlet of the bearing lubricant is small and the oil intake is insufficient, so the diameter of the throttle ring should be appropriately enlarged;
  • The inlet oil temperature is too high. The cooling water volume of the oil cooler should be adjusted;
  • The oil is mixed with water, dirty or deteriorated, which affects the lubrication effect. The oil cooler should be checked to eliminate water leakage or replace with new oil;
  • Dirt enters the bearing and wears the bearing bush. The bearing and lubricating oil pipeline should be cleaned, and the bushing should be scraped;
  • If the bearing shell is damaged, the bearing shell should be recast.
